About FarmingisLife
Who we are.
Farming is Life is a 65-acre ecological haven adjacent to over 4000 acres of state-owned land. This land has a rich history of being organically and regeneratively farmed, allowing us to provide nutrient-dense, locally grown, and culturally responsive food. Our farm features 12 high tunnels, over 20 acres of potential field crops, and a planned mushroom farm nestled within our woodlands. With diverse habitats including fields, forests, and wetlands, Farming is Life is an ideal site for monitoring regional and microclimatic challenges.
At Farming is Life, our focus is on producing nutrient-dense, delicious food that is not suitable for long-term storage or transport, thereby ensuring maximum freshness and nutritional value. Our current food system relies heavily on non-locally grown produce, which we aim to change. We offer fruits and vegetables that are both familiar and unique, sourced through selective seed procurement and the “land race” technique to adapt to our microclimate.
